Our communities need leaders who understand business issues because they've lived business issues.
We don't require that business leaders commit to engaging in public leadership - and our training for aspiring elected leaders is not for filed candidates. We only ask that leaders explore the opportunity.
Since 2008, the lives of nearly 36 million people have been impacted by leaders - primarily public leaders -- who were first prepared through a local customized training program.

OUR COLLABORATIVE AND CUSTOMIZED “FLAGSHIP” TRAINING TO BUILD THE BENCH TODAY
OF TOMORROW’S PRO-BUSINESS
ELECTED OR APPOINTED LEADERS
WHO: Aspiring and exploring business-minded political candidates and government appointees (Filed or declared candidates not recommended)
WHAT: A proven, proprietary strategic method allows leaders to be mentally prepared and publicly positioned now to take advantage of their leadership opportunity later, should they choose to engage.
HOW LONG: One day, two days or beyond, depending on the objectives and depth. One-hour follow-up one-on-one coaching sessions with participants are available by phone or videoconference
WHERE: In-person (Video conference not recommended)
Politics is about policy. In our democratic republic, winners make the rules.
If we want pro-prosperity, pro-business policies that provide the climate for a strong economy where we live and work, we’ll need leaders in policy-making positions who understand business issues because they live business issues.
They’ve created jobs, balanced budgets, dealt with the maze of taxes and regulations, provided great customer service and they understand the language of business and prosperity.
But before they can lead, they’ll need strategies to succeed and confidently step into their leadership moment as already “formidable.”
Collaborative and customized leadership training programs feature The Lea[doer]ship™ Method for Public Leadership Engagement, which guides prospective elected and/or appointed leaders with proven strategies on how to:
- Define their difference and their destination—where they can make it;
- Overcome common personal, professional and sometimes political barriers;
- Elevate their public visibility with messaging strategies that boost their credibility and Engage “power proponents” who can open doors and have their backs;
- Realize results more quickly with proper planning, lining up support and being prepared to address opposition.
In diverse markets, since 2008, graduates have emerged from their training to become legislative leaders (State Senate President, State House Speaker, future State House Speaker, members of leadership and legislators), local leaders (Mayors, County and City Leaders) and leaders who have been appointed to influential boards and committees where they’ve used their business expertise to influence — and in some cases — direct public policies.
Each program meets the objectives of organizers and is branded locally, Organizers have control over the leaders who are selected for training. (We provide selection guidelines and an application template.)
Our training features an active-learning workshop format of small-group discussions and problem-solving through simulated scenarios.
We offer two public leadership tracks: a focus on aspiring and exploring elected leaders and policy-influencers without a candidate focus. Training for prospective appointees to government boards and commissions and/or policy influencers can be included in either track.
In the past we've assisted in organizing a 501(c)3 educational organization to administer the training (so long as no declared candidates participate). This allows corporate and community nonprofit foundations to participate in program funding.
There is no obligation to see if this training is right for your organization and community.
PRO-BUSINESS POLICY INFLUENCERS
WHO: Aspiring and exploring public policy influencers and government appointees who have NO interest in learning how to run for office
WHAT: Pro-business leaders discover how to use their expertise to impact and influence pro-prosperity public policy
HOW LONG: Half-day or Full-day sessions. One-hour follow-up one-on-one coaching sessions are available by phone or videoconference
WHERE: In-person or video conference
There are business-minded leaders where you live and work who are experts in important areas of your economy or need in your community… and their expertise would greatly benefit public policy.
But how do they get in front of policymakers to influence policy decisions?
This training is for business leaders who want to explore strategies to become policy influencers but have no interest — none, zero — in learning how to run for office. (Like this)
Our outcome-based training guides aspiring influence leaders on how to elevate their expertise in order to make a difference. Leaders discover how to explore what they can do and where to make a difference, overcome common barriers of entry, build their public visibility so they can be as viable or valuable and engage “power proponents” who can open doors to opportunities.
Leaders will also discover how to prepare and position themselves to land an appointment to government boards, committees or task forces. In some jurisdictions, appointments are more or less advisory in nature. In other states — California, for instance — boards and commissions can have influence or power in not only making policy but carrying it out.
Trainings can be conducted in half-day or full-day sessions. Separately, we encourage organizers to conduct a training (without us) on policy issues of interest.
